Model [3] Update

Model3

Thanks to my new gun I’ve got seven new pieces of wood on my third model. It will have five “scenes” in it when finished. The first scene is a computer room. That’s what I’m thinking about now.

I’ve got two options:

1) Make it fast and minimal: Reference the Lego computer rooms I designed as a kid (although nobody would get that, that’s fine). Lego fans will remember the classic computer pieces with their 45 degree face and colorful buttons, originally only available in grey. If I make it fast then I can get to the rest of it sooner. Sometimes it pays to just go with your intuition and think less about it.

2) Take my time, think about it, and make a more innovative control room complete with chairs, perhaps a master chair looking through a telescope. The movie Alien was such a groundbreaking set movie–I love that crashed spaceship with the dead alien who was in a master chair with a telescope thingy–I just might have to steal that. If I take my time with this then the whole model gets more interesting.

Another thing that is bothering me is the finish. The last model is latex and I’m suspicious that it won’t age well. I might have to upgrade to oil. Oh how I hate working with it, but it really is durable.
