Well the time is finally here to sell my 35mm camera. Darn it. It’s one of those all-metal, built-like-a-tank, built like they will never-build-a-digital-camera cameras. The fact is that I haven’t used it in three years and don’t plan to ever again. I don’t want to sell it, but I can’t justify keeping it.
Megan and I use slides as little as possible these days. In fact, as of last month, we have decided to not duplicate or create any new slides (from digital files, like we have the last two years). I kinda expect slides to die off over the next two years. That said, I’m really gonna miss them.
When I’m on the receiving side of applications is where I’m going to miss them the most. It’s so much more efficient to hold up a slide sheet then mess with someone’s CD-ROM (and worst case unintuitive interface). What’s needed is a standard web portfolio format.
