We were in La Jolla yesterday and saw the new Nancy Rubins piece being installed at MCASD. That’s a crane, lifting and holding the parts in place while they are secured by a pretty sophisticated looking installation team.
It’s a departure from her previous works of airplane scrap: this piece is comprised of boats and nautical parts, which, incidentally, overhang the Oceanview terrace in perhaps the most spectacular backyard of any American museum (overlooking the glorious Pacific ocean).
The exhibition opens on Saturday. Rubins will be lecturing tomorrow night at 7pm.
