Rebecca Eilering is an artist who appears to actually enjoy making work. She playfully installs her 3D painting installations around existing pipes and A/C control boxes at Beverly Gallery. Her paintings are connected together as loose, but systematized, families. To be fair, I don’t think she transcends mere style, which would be fine if the style — think current LA MFA painting programs — wasn’t already all the rage, but she’s going somewhere and I look forward to where she ends up.

Is the door part of the painting?

I’d say [coneptually] yes. But it is part of the gallery so I don’t know for sure. The strength of her work is working with these architectural elements that others would shrug off.

Should of spell checked that–try “conceptually’ instead of “coneptually”.
