Jennifer Vanderpoole, Yum! Yum!, 2007, installation
On view through June 2, LA-based artist Jennifer Vanderpoole’s ambitious installation at Urban Culture Projects in Kansas City is a visual feast in the spirit of filmmaker Peter Greenaway. Vanderpoole assembles more small objects together than possible to visually absorb. Compulsive and dense, yet ditzy and light, this delightful work pushes and pulls with both the wonder of a child and the cynicism of someone much older.
