We have been in Finland more than a week now, but we’ve been catching up on the blog with the art-filled portion of our travels in Germany. We spent several days in Helsinki before leaving for the island of Kökar (pronounced Chur-Car), where we are currently working at the Åland Archipelago Guest Artist Residence.

Helsinki is a lovely, cosmopolitan city that feels both ultra-modern and full of history. One of the design capitals of the world, Helsinki is a visual feast: architecture, fashion, bleeding-edge interior design, and conceptual, daring contemporary art.

Next post: Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, whose motto is “I don’t quite get it…” and invites visitors to stick post-it notes all around the museum explaining what it is that they don’t quite get. What did I write in response? But it gets me.
