We’re looking for resourceful materials to use in the video / photo project we’re working on here in Turku. In the process, we’ve explored many secondhand shops and flea markets in the area. Yesterday we stumbled upon the mother of all earth-friendly institutions: Ekotori.

Part thrift shop / recycling center / educational resource center / commune / bike shop / bookstore / museum and general all-around hippie paradise. Ekotori has everything from Wedgewood china to kitchen appliances to supermarket conveyer-belt cashier stations, including a museum for old radios and televisions (above). And almost all of it real, vintage Scandinavian design.
