Artist Assistant and Project Assistant Director J.R. Uretsky stands on top of one of our first attempts to understand how to make a boulder strong enough for a performer to ride 25′ vertically on. This approach uses a single line to lift which is fabulously difficult to balance on. The company we hired to rig this boulder, ZFX [more on them later] talked us into moving towards a four line system over the single line. Much better.

Also notice the pathetic chicken wire and plaster first attempts at boulder making. Not our finest hour. However, sometimes better ideas need to follow bad ideas…
