Arrived in Spain

We arrived in Spain and took the subway/buses to the artist residency north of Barcelona (more on this residency later). This is our first time in Barcelona, a beautiful and friendly city. Our first video shoot is this Sunday–we have two days to collect materials and build the set (more on this tomorrow).

This summer, we’ll be spending the entire month of June at Can Serrat, an international artist-in-residence program in El Bruc, Spain, near the Montserrat Monastery, about 45 kilometers outside Barcelona. We’ll make our next artwork, a photo and video project, partially in the studio on-site, but primarily in the surrounding region, which is rich with unusual rock formations and vast systems of caves. The work will be costume heavy, and will depend on the natural landscape and light.
We’re also planning on traveling around Spain by train, to Madrid and Bilboa, and by ferry to the island of Majorca. Of course, we’ll spend a great deal of time in Barcelona as well. Any must-dos while we’re in Iberia?
