A Slight Shift of Gravity

A Slight Shift of Gravity: Video
2008
0:46 min., HD video

A Slight Shift of Gravity is a single-channel video, a site-specific video installation and a series of photographs.

On the right side of this split-screen video, a person is standing on a island in the middle of the Gulf of Finland, looking at the horizon. On the left side of the video, a person is underneath a model of that island. The model shifts, creating a hole in the landscape where the light can break through and hit the man’s face. He shifts position to avoid the light. The soundtrack is Bröllopet i stora salen (The Wedding in the Great Hall), a traditional folk song from Åland islands.
